Who We Are

Heading

Saffires is a Christian charity which supports women who work in Leicester’s sex industry. We do this by providing confidential care, friendship, practical help, signposting to appropriate services and opportunities to make positive life changes.

“The name ‘Saffires’ is inspired by the gem stones, sapphires – we changed the spelling on purpose to be unique! Sapphires form under the earth in darkness and under great pressure. When the stones are cut in a special way, they reflect light in a star shape. We all face darkness and difficulty in our lives. We believe people can come into a place of light where they reflect God’s beauty. All women are made as precious, individuals and each of us have great worth. We wanted our name to reflect this truth.”

Eve

Eve joined the Saffires team in 2019 as our Administrative Assistant. She enjoys reading crime novels, doing art projects and spending time with her dogs.

We believe all women can embrace who they were made to be,
find their future, and have potential to change the world.

Safe and Confidential

We carefully consider safeguarding in all areas of our practice in order to recognise, respond to and prevent abuse. We seek advice and guidance from other specialist organisations to ensure our volunteers are trained appropriately. We are registered with thirtyone:eight who are an umbrella organisation on safeguarding.

We will always seek to maintain confidentiality – unless this puts you or other people at risk of harm.

Saffires respects the choices of all the women we serve, but we are a drug and alcohol free project. This means we do not allow use of these substances at any of our activities or events.

“All the staff and volunteers at Saffires are Christians from different churches across the city. Each one of us has seen God do amazing things in our lives and would love to share our stories with you, so please feel free to ask any questions you want! We respect the beliefs and decisions of everybody we meet, so we promise to never force our faith on you, and will support you regardless of your own beliefs. We believe that God hears when we talk to Him and responds, so we will always offer to pray with or for you, but you’re always welcome to say yes or no.”
