In the news
There has been so much in the news and in social media recently about racism and equality. I don’t want to get into any politics here but I do want to tell you that God cares about equality and that you are all precious to him. Here is a Bible verse that reflects God's character on this issue:
Romans 10 verses 12-13:
“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
When the Bible was written Jews and Gentiles were very different cultures and different people groups. This verse is saying that God cares about every person and that everyone is equal in his eyes. Here are some points to help you reflect on what this Bible verse is saying to you:
1. Do you see yourself as different to those around you? Have you ever thought that God cares about you as much as somebody else?
2. God blesses all those who call on Him, do you believe that God can bless you? Why not ask Him?
3. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. If you want to ask God to save you and bring you new life then you can pray to him today. You can read the verse and prayer below to do this.
John chapter 3 verse 16:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, Jesus, that whoever believes in
him will not die but have eternal life.”
God I am sorry for the wrong things I have done. Please forgive me. I believe in you and
that Jesus died to save me. I ask that you bring me new life. Amen
Prayer
Lord God thank you that you care about all people, however different we are. I pray that you will bless me today and help me to remember that I matter to you.
Life Matters
How can you show other people that they matter? Here are some ways you could try out!
Send a letter or a card to someone to let them know that they matter.
Cook someone a meal if you know they are having a hard time right now.
Offering to help someone with their gardening or shopping if they are isolating at this time.
Send someone a gift, flowers or chocolates to show you care.
Journal Tip
This week It would be great to write down in your journal what equality means to you and how it has affected you.
